Editing

Content Development

As a content development editor, I read your work (fiction/non-fiction short story, essay, or book) and identify areas that introduce plot holes, need more description, lack context for the reader, or otherwise do not work for the story you are wanting to tell.

Specific areas of focus can be given by the client to ensure maximum effectiveness of services.

Consulting would require direct communication with the client so issues that are found can be fully understood by both parties and a path forward can be constructed.

Note that content development does not include proofing or copy editing your work. This service is specifically geared towards characters, settings, plot, and theme development.

Proofreading / Editing

Academic Articles

While Hearts Consulting's specialty is in the humanities, they are capable of proofing a majority of academic work. Articles submitted for proofreading and editing will be reviewed for their compliance to the appropriate document style guide, thesis and organization, grammar and punctuation, as well as word choice, sentence structure, and logic.

Non-Fiction/Fiction Essays, Short stories, Books, or Novels

Projects of this kind will required a few meetings before true editing or proofing can take place. It is helpful to know the intent of the piece so that word choice and sentence structure can be reviewed within the right context. Hearts Consulting will then review the work to look for any errors in grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, and wording.
